A contract manufacturing company specializing in medical devices is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Assistant (part time) to support the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities.

Job Summary:The Facilities Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that the building and its surrounding areas are safe, clean, and properly maintained. This role involves assisting with general maintenance, troubleshooting, coordinating repairs, managing supplies, and ensuring the facility complies with safety and regulatory requirements.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

Building Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.), painting, and light carpentry.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address maintenance issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors or third-party service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance services.

Facility Cleanliness & Safety:

  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of common areas, offices, restrooms, and external areas.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is maintained, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency lighting, and exit signs.
  • Assist in maintaining safety protocols and standards, ensuring that the facility complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Equipment & Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies (cleaning products, office materials, etc.).
  • Ensure that tools, equipment, and machinery are well-maintained and in good working order.
  • Order and replenish supplies as needed to ensure the facility operates efficiently.

Support for Events & Meetings:

  • Assist with setting up meeting rooms, event spaces, and common areas as needed for company functions or meetings.
  • Ensure that all equipment required for events is set up and functioning.

Energy & Environmental Sustainability:

  • Assist in monitoring energy usage and implement energy-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure waste disposal procedures are followed and support sustainability efforts within the facility.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance requests, repair schedules, and inventory.
  • Assist with scheduling routine maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Respond to facility-related inquiries and requests from staff or tenants.

Education/Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) are a plus.
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, custodial services, or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and general maintenance procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and building codes.
